Storer Transportation Systems- Fire Procedure <br /> Storer Transportation Systems Subject: Fire Procedure/Evacuation <br /> Procedure <br /> SAN JOAQUIN YARD Authority: Donald Storer <br /> FACILITY <br /> Policies and Procedures <br /> General In all instances involving a fire, or other emergency, the preservation of life shall supersede all <br /> other concerns. Staff discovering or responding to a fire, shall secure the safety of all employees <br /> within their immediate control, prior to initiating fire suppression and containment efforts. <br /> Secondary to ensuring the safety of all staff, is the preservation of buildings and property. <br /> General Staff Responsibilities <br /> All staff members shall be aware of the location of all fire extinguishers in their assigned area. <br /> Staff shall also be responsible for acquiring a realistic working knowledge of Storer Fire and <br /> emergency notification procedures and the use of fire extinguisher for suppressing fires. Training <br /> in these procedures, as well as the evacuation procedures for staff, shall be extended to all staff <br /> members at STS. Safety Officers and designated trainers shall be responsible for ensuring that all <br /> drivers, support and administrative staff receive proper training in emergency fire procedures <br /> and/or evacuation. <br /> Fire Procedure (discussion) <br /> Periodic formal discussions shall be held to familiarize STS staff with the proper facility <br /> evacuation. Fire and /or Evacuation Training procedures shall be documented. Safety Officers <br /> shall ensure that periodic instruction is provided to all STS staff to understand emergency fire <br /> procedures and evacuation routes. Evacuation routes shall also be posted in all work sites. <br /> Fire Inspection Designated Safety Officer is responsible for fire safety development, Officer shall make a <br /> monthly fire and life safety inspection of the facility. Any deficiencies found during this <br /> inspection shall be corrected prior to the next monthly inspection. In addition to the monthly fire <br /> inspections by STS Safety Officer(s), there shall be an annual fire prevention training included in <br /> a STS workshop. <br /> Rev. 12/08 <br />
