IrVWAC. hk)t- HAZARD COMMUNICATION (HAZCOM)
SYST
General Information
In order to comply with Federal and State "Right to Know" laws, the following Chemical
Hazard Communication Program will go into effect immediately. All departments are
included in this program; the written program will be available at all branch offices and on
our intranet for review by any interested employees.
Container Labeling
Branch Managers will verify that all stationary product vessels and portable containers be
clearly labeled as to the contents. The chemical contents must coincide with the chemical
identity used on the Safety Data Sheet(SDS) for that chemical. All containers of the
hazardous chemicals must be labeled with the appropriate hazard-warning symbol.
Branch Managers at each branch will ensure that all secondary containers are labeled with
the same information as the original manufacturer's label. For help with labeling please see
your manager. If more information is needed then is supplied on the label, refer to the SDS
sheets located in the binder in the work area, the office, or on the intranet.
The Safety and Compliance Manager will review the labeling system and update it as
required. This review will be documented and filed under the "Chemical Hazard
Communication Records"filed at each Auto-Chlor System branch.
Copies of SDSs for hazardous chemicals to which employees may be exposed will be kept in
the work area, office area, and on our intranet. SDSs will be available to all employees for
review in their work area. If SDSs are not available or new chemicals in use do not have an
SDS,please contact the Branch Manager immediately. A master file of all SDSs will be kept
at the corporate headquarters.
When purchasing new hazardous materials, prior to use,the Branch Manager will review
the new SDSs with all employees.
Safety Data Sheets(SDS) y
Branch Managers are responsible for obtaining and maintaining current SDSs. Prior to full
acceptance of the SDS,the Branch Manager shall check the content of the SDS to ensure that
it meets the requirement of 29 CFR 1910.1200(g).
Employee Training and Information
Branch Managers are responsible for the employee-training program. Employees must
receive training before they are allowed to handle any hazardous chemicals in the
workplace.
Auto-Chlor System
Safety&Regulatory Compliance Program
