4. Describe procedures for notifying onsite emergency response personnel and outside
agencies (e.g., Fire, Health, Police, State OES) needed during hazardous materials
emergencies.
This is an unmanned facility.
Upon discovery or notification of a spill, 1-866 HELP EHS will be notified and proper
containment procedures will be initiated to reduce the spread of the spill
5. Describe any security system or equipment that could impede site access by
emergency responders.
The facility is secured with a chain-link fence that is closed and locked during non -business
hours. In addition, all doors are kept locked and the alarm is activated after hours.
OR: Possible fence and locks in place for access. Not all facilities have chain linked fences.
This will be location specific.
6. Describe procedures for notification and evacuation of visitors and employees
during hazardous materials emergencies. Primary and alternate evacuation routes
and assembly areas must be clearly identified on the site map.
This is an unmanned facility. In the event personnel are present, verbal notification will be
made. Evacuate away from the facility to the prescribed Evacuation Area, where a personnel
count can be made.
7. Describe mitigation or clean-up procedures to be implemented by onsite personnel in
the event of a release, threatened release, fire or explosion involving hazardous
materials. Indicate if the business has an onsite emergency response team (ERT)
and if so, describe how the ERT will interact with outside emergency response
agencies if additional assistance is required.
The person discovering the spill will: Contact 866 -HELP EHS, (866-435-7347) keep others
out of the area, attempt to stop the flow of the leak, wear protective equipment and use spill kit
to absorb the leak. All ignition sources will be extinguished. All shut-off valves and ventilation
systems will be shut down where safe and appropriate. Every attempt will be made to keep
materials from entering floor or storm drains. If a spill enters a floor or storm drain, local
utilities should be notified immediately. For small Mills, all materials and used absorbents will
be contained in a clearly marked, clean container. If the leak/release is beyond the persons
capabilities, they will call 9-1-1 immediately.
8. Describe procedures for immediate inspection, isolation, and shutdown of equipment
or systems that may be involved in a hazardous materials release or threatened
release.
Visual inspection of all affected areas or equipment will occur immediately. Any leaking
containers or equipment will be isolated and appropriate mitigation procedures will be
implemented. Area will be isolated using hazard tape or rope. Any spill that has entered a
storm drain becomes a reportable spill to external agencies. The external agency should be
contacted immediately b the he appropriate environmental department personnel.
