Cost: NA
Fire Safety Inspection, July 18, 2002:
Tank Farm 4: Repair the spill control system in the transloading area. The collection
sump pump is not moving hazardous material spillage to the collection tanks in the
secondary containment unit. CFC, 8003.1.3.1 and 8003.1.3.3
Sierra Chemical Response and Action:
Spill control system repaired
Cost: NA
Fire Safety Inspection, July 18, 2002:
Rear Yard Storage 1: Provide secondary containment for several containers stored in the
back yard area. CFC, 8003.1.3.3
Sierra Chemical Response and Action:
Letter from Lonnie Kellar to Kent Miller, October 24, 2002 — Separation and
containment of incompatible materials (along west fence line): As soon as I learned this I
immediately instructed management to get this accomplished no later than Friday,
October 25 (confirmed that this is happening as this letter is being typed. In the meantime
we are actively looking at various options as to how best accommodate the containment
issue, both short and long term. It should be noted, as I'm sure you discovered on
Wednesday, that we have installed an 8" gate valve on the discharge side of the storm
drain located in the middle of the yard area (natural slope of the yard area is to the storm
drain). This valve is kept closed, and in agreement with the S.J. Environmental health
people (Kasey and Ray), if there should be any spillage and/or rainfall, the contents of the
storm drain will be checked to ensure that it is within acceptable pH levels and, if so,
would be discharged. If Not, contents will be pumped out, placed in suitable containers
and identified for the purpose of filtration and recycling into our manufacturing process
at some later date.
Containers placed in plastic containments. Area has central drain with gate valve to
prevent migration of product to the environment.
Cost: NA
Complaint:
13.w. Violation of CFC, Article 80, section 8003.1.12, failure to keep clear, the area
surrounding an outdoor storage area or tank of combustible materials and vegetation for a
minimum distance of 30 feet
