Discharge Sources and Containment <br /> • Review with employees each potential spill source including the storage tank <br /> area, the tank truck loading and unloading area, delivery and storage of <br /> Products in 55-gallon containers, storage tank-to-console and console-to- <br /> and vehicle oil transfer lines, and oil drain pans. Review the purpose of sealing <br /> sumps and drains, if applicable to store. Inform employees that the integrity <br /> of the sump enclosures is not to be defeated. Review the purpose of any <br /> berms installed at the store. <br /> • Identify location of spill kit and absorbent material. Train employees on the <br /> use of these items. Inform employees that spill kit should be re-stocked <br /> immediately after use. <br /> • Review proper disposal method for used absorbents. <br /> • Mop water can never be discharged onto the parking lot. <br /> • Do not squeegee oily water out the bay doors. <br /> • Never allow oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, etc., to enter storm drains <br /> located around the store. <br /> IV. Discharge Reporting Procedures <br /> • Spills of oil into or upon the navigable waters (rivers, creeks, streams, storm <br /> water ditches)of the United States should be reported to your supervisor <br /> IMMEDIATELY. <br /> • The source of the spill should be stopped immediately and spill containment <br /> material should used to prevent additional oil form reaching these waters_ <br /> • Describes what information is required when reporting a spill. <br /> V. Store Drainage <br /> Employees should know the difference between a floor drain (if located in the <br /> store) and a storm water drain (located outside the store).
