Univar USA, Inc. Section 6
Exhibit 1
06/14/11
Natural Disaster Checklists
As outlined earlier in this manual, it is the responsibility of the facility Emergency
Coordinator (usually the Branch Operations Manager), or designee, to determine when
the Contingency Plan will be put into effect.
To assist facilities in preparing for and dealing with Natural Disasters, the below
checklists (Pre-Season Hurricane/Flood Activities, Pre-Hurricane/Flood Activities and
Post Hurricane/Flood Activities) have been developed. As Meteorologists consider June
1st too be the start of each year "storm" season, those Univar facilities that are
considered at risk for Natural Disasters (i.e. located in an area with a history of
hurricanes/flooding) should conduct the Pre-season activities by the end of June each
year.
Hurricane & Flood Pre-Season Checklist

Date & Time
Completed

Initials
Gather up supplies and equipment that may be needed and store
near the Emergency Response Kits. Suggested items include:
plastic tarps/sheeting, sand bags, portable radio with fresh batteries.
Have enough plastic sheeting to cover computer equipment and file
cabinets containing critical information.
Prepare a list of emergency phone numbers for utility companies;
electrical, gas, water, etc.
Take pictures of entire site; warehouse, tankfarm, office. Store in
safe area or electronically.
Inspect all dikes (loading areas and tankfarm) for integrity. Notify
your ROM if you find an area of concern.
Have Environmental Contractor information available.
Pre — Hurricane & Flood Checklist

Date & Time
Com leted
Initials
Safely shut down all processes, boilers, chillers, telephone
equipment. Collect all drip pans and store securely, ensure all
hoses are capped/plugged and stored securely.
Inspect the outside areas of the plant for items that could become
airborne or float away and relocate to a secure area of the facility;
i.e. empty poly and steel drums, empty trash cans, empty propane
tanks, pallets, etc.
Ensure storage tanks have enough product in them to act as an
anchor. For tanks low on product, if time allows, schedule in
another load to help anchor down the tank.
Shut off all flammable gas lines. Ensure all main tank valves are
closed and locked to prevent accidental discharee.
Checklist continued on next page ....
