Section 6 <br />Exhibit 1 <br />06/14/11 <br />Natural Disaster Checklists <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />As outlined earlier in this manual, it is the responsibility of the facility Emergency <br />Coordinator (usually the Branch Operations Manager), or designee, to determine when <br />the Contingency Plan will be put into effect. <br />To assist facilities in preparing for and dealing with Natural Disasters, the below <br />checklists (Pre-Season Hurricane/Flood Activities, Pre-Hurricane/Flood Activities and <br />Post Hurricane/Flood Activities) have been developed. As Meteorologists consider June <br />1st too be the start of each year "storm" season, those Univar facilities that are <br />considered at risk for Natural Disasters (i.e. located in an area with a history of <br />hurricanes/flooding) should conduct the Pre-season activities by the end of June each <br />year. <br />Hurricane & Flood Pre-Season Checklist <br /> <br />Date & Time <br />Completed <br /> <br />Initials <br />Gather up supplies and equipment that may be needed and store <br />near the Emergency Response Kits. Suggested items include: <br />plastic tarps/sheeting, sand bags, portable radio with fresh batteries. <br />Have enough plastic sheeting to cover computer equipment and file <br />cabinets containing critical information. <br />Prepare a list of emergency phone numbers for utility companies; <br />electrical, gas, water, etc. <br />Take pictures of entire site; warehouse, tankfarm, office. Store in <br />safe area or electronically. <br />Inspect all dikes (loading areas and tankfarm) for integrity. Notify <br />your ROM if you find an area of concern. <br />Have Environmental Contractor information available. <br />Pre — Hurricane & Flood Checklist <br /> <br />Date & Time <br />Com leted <br /> Initials <br />Safely shut down all processes, boilers, chillers, telephone <br />equipment. Collect all drip pans and store securely, ensure all <br />hoses are capped/plugged and stored securely. <br />Inspect the outside areas of the plant for items that could become <br />airborne or float away and relocate to a secure area of the facility; <br />i.e. empty poly and steel drums, empty trash cans, empty propane <br />tanks, pallets, etc. <br />Ensure storage tanks have enough product in them to act as an <br />anchor. For tanks low on product, if time allows, schedule in <br />another load to help anchor down the tank. <br />Shut off all flammable gas lines. Ensure all main tank valves are <br />closed and locked to prevent accidental discharee. <br />Checklist continued on next page ....
