Univar USA, Inc.
Natural Disaster Checklists

Section 6
Exhibit 1
06/14/11
Pre — Hurricane & Flood Checklist continued.... Date & Time
Comoleted

Close all facility spill control valves to prevent chemical run off in the
event of product loss.
,
Move all equipment (i.e. drum pickers) and product inside where
practicable. If possible, move pallets of bagged materials and fiber
drums to higher locations; be sure observe compatibility
requirements.
If possible, relocate high-priced materials above floor level (i.e.
pallet rack) and away from doors and windows.
Place sand bags at vulnerable doors if flooding is possible.
Contact a local electrician and plumber in case they are needed.
If facility has an Elementary Neutralization Unit (above or in-ground)
check pH and neutralize, discharge thru normal process.
If Elementary Neutralization Unit is above ground tank, after
neutralization and discharge, add water to help anchor down tank.
If a team of employees is remaining on site, ensure that they have a
sufficient supply of: food and water for five days, portable radio, cell
phones, blankets, fire extinguishers, and keys to turn off the
sprinkler risers and storm water valves, password to shut down
burglar alarm, bolt cutters, emergency lighting and submergible
pump.
If possible, relocate all bulk tankers, vans, and tractors to a safe
location (i.e. if storm coming in from south, stage at north side of
building). If not possible, place empty trailers side by side with full
trailers at the ends.
Print current inventory list. This may be needed if power is down,
facility has incurred a product spill and compatibility issues arise.
Have Environmental Contractor (clean-up) on stand-by if needed.
Protect important records (i.e. hazardous waste files) by covering
with plastic sheeting or moving to alternate location. Lock all
lockable file cabinets.
Use plastic sheeting to protect computers and CPUs from possible
water damage. If time allows, move computer equipment away
from windows to a more secure area of the building.
If facility stocks oxidizers or other water sensitive products, move to
an elevated location (while maintaining compatibility requirements)
and tarp the containers to prevent contact with storm water.
If time allows, place pallets of non-hazardous steel drum materials
at the base of overhead doors to prevent blow-in at the bottom.
