Mr. John Richmond
May 16, 1986
Page 2
Item 4 - Upgrade of Spill Containment and Chemical Storage Areas
A sheet metal apron had alaready been installed around and below the
base of main storage tank for the spill containment. A concrete
slab approximately 20'-0" x 10'-0" will be provided at the unloading
station to prevent oil from reaching the soil. A sump will be
furnished at the lowest point of the concrete slab to collect any
leaking during unloading. At the fuel oil pumping station a concrete
curb will be installed around the station to contain any leaking. A
sump will also be incorporated in the design. Detailed plans will be
ready in a month.
Containment systems for acid and caustic tanks have been finalized.
A shallow concrete pit with a capacity greater than the content and
embedded drain pipe for draining rain water will be constructed for
each tank. Detailed plans are near completion.
Item 5 - Characterize and Dispose of Containment Materials at Old
Corn Syrup Plant
Not addressed in this letter.
id K. Win
R. C.
