4.i
Ms. Margaret Lagorio
proper disposal. The excavated soil will be stockpiled on an impermeable paved surface and
covered with plastic. The estimated area of excavation is depicted on Figure 3. Excavation will be
conducted by OSHA -certified personnel of Elite IV Contractors under the technical supervision of
Ground Zero.
Collect soil samples from the backhoe bucket or with a drive sampling device at the limits of the
excavation including at least four sidewall samples and one sample from the floor of the excavation.
Soil samples will be field -screened for the presence of VOCs using a photoionization detector
(PID). Should field evidence (odors, discoloration, PID readings) indicate the presence of
significant concentrations of VOCs, additional samples may be collected.
• Submit the samples to a state -certified hazardous waste testing laboratory for analysis of TPHg by
EPA Method 8015K BTEX by EPA Method 8020 and oxygenates by EPA Method 8260.
• Collect a composite sample from the stockpiled soil in order to characterize the soil for disposal.
Submit these samples to a state -certified laboratory for analysis of TPHg, BTEX and oxygenates.
Prepare a technical report summarizing the findings of the investigation for submittal to EHD. The
report will include an evaluation of the magnitude of contamination, discuss disposal of the
stockpiled soil, and will propose appropriate steps to further define or remediate the contamination
as appropriate.
All work will be conducted in accordance with Ground Zeros Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan
(Attachment B) and our Site Specific Health and Safety Plan (Attachment C).
If you have any questions or comments please contact Ground Zero at your earliest convenience.
Respectfully, x
Ground Zero Analysis I C.G£OO
GREGORY P.
Gregory P.
