According to Mr. Evans, the containers in the hazardous <br />waste storage shed are inspected "about once a month." Hazardous waste container storage and transfer areas shall <br />be inspected weekly for leaking containers and for deterioration of containers and the containment system caused by <br />corrosion and other factors. Immediately begin conducting the necessary weekly inspections for all hazardous waste <br />containers at this facility. <br />This is a Class II violation. <br />406 <br />CCR 66261.7 Contaminated container not marked with date emptied or managed within one year of being emptied. <br />-A 55 gallon red steel drum which previously held oil was observed outside the maintenance area without empty <br />labeling. <br />-A 55 gallon blue steel drum which previously held used oil and two 55 gallon red steel drums which previously held <br />hydraulic oil were observed in the hazardous waste shed without empty labeling. <br />-A 55 gallon black steel was observed in the hazardous waste shed labeled as "empty" with an empty date of 6/14/12. <br />Containers larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous material shall be marked with the date they were <br />emptied and managed within one year of being emptied. Immediately mark and manage all empty containers per this <br />section. <br />This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br />601 <br />CCR 66262.34(d) Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br />-A 30 gallon blue poly drum of battery spill / sulfuric acid cleanup waste was observed in the facility with an <br />accumulation start date of 4/23/10. <br />-A 55 gallon black steel drum which previously held used oil filters was observed in the hazardous waste storage shed <br />with used oil stored at the bottom and an accumulation start date of 1/23/13. <br />-A 55 gallon black steel drum of used absorbent was observed in the hazardous waste shed with no accumulation <br />start date. <br />-Two 55 gallon blue steel drums of used oil were observed in the hazardous waste shed, one with a faded, illegible <br />accumulation start date and the other with a date of October 2013. <br />-A 55 gallon brown steel drum of used oil was observed near the maintenance area with a faded, near -illegible <br />accumulation start date of 8/31/10. <br />Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste stored <br />on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days. Since the wastes have been on site too long or it cannot <br />be determined how long these hazardous wastes have been on site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste <br />hauler to dispose of these wastes under manifest. Submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD within 30 days. <br />This is a Class II violation. <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />
