01CULIVLLJ
FEE 5 2016
SPOOITank Inspection 2016
• NCPA CTI,Lodi,CA 95240 ENVIRONMENTAL.
Tank Inspection Frequency: STI, SP001 inspection determination and inspector requirements. The
tank is a factory built tank with a working volume of 1,886 gallons. The tank is within secondary
containment and it has a continuous release detection monitor. The class of the tank is class 1. Class 1
tanks of this tank's volume require annual visual external inspection by the owner's inspector who is
familiar with the tank's operation.
STI SP001, External Inspection Check list for this type of tank.
7.1.3 Inspection Review: Complete
7.1.4 Name Plate Data: Missing
7.1.5 Inspect Fabrication vs Standard. Meets the criteria of a UL 142 tank with the exception of the
missing emergency vent.
7.1.6 Inspect the foundation: The foundation is concrete free of settlement, spalling, with a few small
cracks. The tank is anchored to the foundation in 6 places. Anchoring prevents seismic shifting and
floatation if the dike were flooded.
7.1.7 Inspect Tank Supports: The tank is supported by a steel collar the same diameter as the tank.
The collar height is 3". The collar is in good condition with no signs of significant corrosion.
7.1.8 Inspect the CRDM, continuous release detection monitor and secondary containment. The
secondary containment is an earthen diked coated with shotcrete. The shotcrete is cracked and
missing in some areas. The main purpose of the shotcrete is to protect the dike from erosion and pest
burrows. In some places there are sign of erosion and burrows. The eroded earth should be removed
and the burrows filled and concrete be reapplied. Cracks in the concrete should be sealed to prevent
further deterioration.
7.1.8.1 Inspect the general condition of the tank. The tank is in good condition with no signs of damage
of significant corrosion.
7.1 8.2 Inspect for foreign materials in secondary containment. The secondary contain contains leaves
and dirt and is covered by moss in several areas. The leaves, dirt and moss shall be removed.
7.1.9 Ancillary Equipment Inspection.
7.1.9.1 Piping and Connections. The piping and connections are in good condition. However, there are
areas where dirt has come in contact with the pipes. The dirt must be removed to prevent corrosion
where it contacts the pipes. There are approximately four piping nozzles which are not capped or blind
flanged. Piping nozzles must be capped or blind flanged when not in use. Piping support were
inspected and were good with the absence of corrosion or fretting of the pipe that is in contact with the
support.
7.1.9.2 Emergency Vent and Normal Vent. The normal vent was inspected and is free of obstructions.
The emergency vent was missing and the tank roof is non-frangible. The tank requires emergency
venting unless approved by the authority having jurisdiction.
John Strandberg PE,rwaterguysarwater uy.com 1-866-388-0404 3 1 P a e
