The Workplan
proposes destroying the remaining 34 monitoring and treatment wells and associated
plumbing, removal of the above -ground treatment system and associated wiring, and the
restoration of the car wash and neighboring strip mall surfaces located around the wells.
Applicable San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) well destruction
permits and site underground clearance will be acquired prior to initiation of the work. Well
EX -1 will be over-drilled entirely prior to grouting, with the remaining wells to be pressure
grouted and over-drilled to 5' below ground surface (bgs) or pressure grouted to surface. A
report of the activities will be submitted at an unspecified date.
The Workplan is conditionally approved with the following requirements..
• that Chevron either seek a variance to the SJCEHD well ordinance requirement that all
"clean" wells be over-drilling to at least 5' bgs after pressure grouting, or over-drilled to
a depth determined by the SJCEHD inspector, and
• that the concrete "mushroom top" be constructed above the grouted well per SJCEHD
well ordinance requirement.
• The report is due within 30 days of completion of the fieldwork.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 464-4615 or by email at
jbarton@waterboards.ca.gov.
` 'James L.L.
