0
S ECOR - - --
Mr. James L. Barton
September 24, 2004
Page 3
CPT Boring and Sample Collection
One CPT boring will be advanced to approximately 60 feet below ground surface (bgs) to
assess soil stratigraphy and lithology. Adjacent to the CPT borehole, a second direct -push
borehole will be advanced to collect one discrete sample at the capillary fringe. The sample
will be sent under chain -of -custody documentation to Curtis and Thompkins Laboratory in
Berkeley, California.
Bench Scale Study
The hydrogen peroxide reagent bench -scale study will evaluate the efficiency of hydrogen
peroxide and measure the soil oxidant demand (SOxD). Soil and groundwater samples will
be mixed with a treatment of 3, 5, and 10 % hydrogen peroxide solution.
Extraction Well Sampling
A groundwater sample will be collected from well EX -1 after purging approximately three
casing volumes of water. Following purging, a groundwater sample will be collected. The
sample will be sent under chain -of -custody documentation to Curtis and Thompkins
Laboratory in Berkeley, California.
REPORT
After completion of fieldwork and receipt of laboratory data, a summary report will be
prepared. The report will include soil analytical data, chain -of -custody records, a site map
showing the CPT borehole and direct -push borehole locations, and conclusions and
recommendations.
SCHEDULE
SECOR is prepared to initiate field work within 2 weeks following approval of this
Bench -Scale Study by the RWQCB. A report documenting the findings of the investigation
will be prepared and submitted approximately 8 to 10 weeks after the completion of the field
work and receipt of laboratory analytical data.
I:\Chevron\95775\REPORTS\2004\Bench Scale Study(Mod).doc
