COri FAINMENT AND CLEAN-UP OF S, ,LLS
The site grade is generally folded with paving sloping in several directions. The storm
drainage is picked up by four (4) catch basins located on the site. There is no major drainage
course serving the site.
A metal storage cabinet or designated closet will contain five (5) 8" diameter by 10' long
Sorbent Booms and one (1) roll SPC 3/8" thick by 3' wide by 150' long Sorbent Blanket.
In the event of a reportable gasoline spill during the fueling of automobiles the spill flow
would go to the south and into the storm water catch basin marked CB#4 on Appendix "B" or
toward the north and west and into the storm water catch basin marked CB#3 on Appendix "B".
A Sorbent Boom should be placed around the appropriate catch basin opening as needed to
contain the spill on the site. After blocking the spill flow at the catch basin opening the Sorbent
Blanket should be used to absorb the spill.
In the event of a reportable diesel spill during fueling of vehicles the spill would go mostly
to the grated catch basins in the center of the Diesel Bays. The 6" drain line from the catch
basins must be plugged immediately with Sorbent Blanket material to prevent overloading the Oil
Separator. Once the drain line is plugged, Sorbent Blanket should be used to absorb the spill.
If the spill is large enough to over -run the catch basins, it would travel either east or west. As the
spill travels east it will head for the storm water catch basin marked CB#2 on Appendix "B".
Sorbent Booms should be placed around the catch basin opening. Then Sorbent Blanket should
be used to absorb the spill. As the spill travels west it will head for the northwest corner of the
site and then along the north curb line to the storm water catch basin marked CB#1 on Appendix
"B". Sorbent Booms should be placed around the catch basin opening and Sorbent Blankets
should be used to absorb the spill.
A spill occurring during the filling of the underground fuel storage tanks would go northeast
to the storm water catch basin marked CB#2 Appendix "B". This catch basin opening should be
blocked by Sorbent Booms and then Sorbent Blanket used to absorb the spill.
CAUTION
Extreme diligence should be used to prevent either fuel from flowing into the underground
storm sewer system so as to mitigate the possible danger of explosion or fire.
In the event such pollution does occur a professional cleaning firm should be retained to
perform the pollution abatement.
