Groundwater at the site has been monitored on a quarterly basis <br />since. <br />• October 1999 — Groundwater elevations at the site wells were monitored by <br />Gettler-Ryan over a three-day period- Gettler-Ryan (G -R) reported that the <br />results of the study indicated that groundwater elevations fluctuated in daily <br />cycles corresponding to the operation of the nearby City of Lodi Municipal Well <br />#12, located approximately 350 feet southwest of the site. <br />• December 1999 to February 2000 — Five monitoring wells (MW -5 through MW - <br />9), four soil vapor extraction wells (VE -1 through VE -4), one groundwater <br />extraction well (EJB -1), and two soil borings (SB -2 and S33-3) were installed by <br />V&W Drilling (G -R, Monitoring Well Installation Report, dated March 30, <br />2000). <br />. April 7, 2000 — A work plan for additional monitoring well installation, <br />including wells within the Caltrans right-of-way, was submitted (G -R, Work <br />Flan for Monitoring Well Installation). Efforts to obtain encroachment and <br />environmental permits for the proposed wells were initiated. <br />• April 14, 2000 — Work plan dated April 7, 2000 was approved by San Joaquin <br />County Environmental Health Division (SJCEf1D). <br />• <br />• April 6 to June 29, 2000 — Interim remediation consisting of weekly pumping of <br />water from well EX -1 was conducted by G -R. During weekly well pumping, <br />approximately 2,635 gallons of water were removed from the site (G -R, July <br />2000). Concentrations of MtBE in groundwater samples from well EX -1, <br />collected on April 6 and June 29, 2000, decreased from 720,000 micrograms per <br />liter (ug/1) to 325,000 ug/l. <br />• April 20, 2000 — Cleanup and Abatement Order (CAO) No. 5-00-704 was issued <br />by the RWQCB- This order required Chevron to install and operate a soil vapor <br />extraction (SVE) and interim groundwater extraction system (GWE) by July 3, <br />2000, and submit a Problem Assessment Report by July 24, 2000, and a Final <br />Remediation Report by August 28, 2000. <br />• April 27 and 28,2000— Work plans for additional site assessment, remedial <br />well installations, and remedial system installation were submitted to the <br />077,41991.043/October 9, 2060.doc <br />
