Between August 23 and September 19, 2000, access
restrictions associated with construction activities at the site delayed the
implementation of these approved activities.
• August 28, 2000 — A Final Remediation Plan (F") was submitted by SECOR.
• August 31, 2000 -- Remedial piping was installed for a proposed future
extraction well (EX -3) to be located near monitoring well MW -1.
• September 19, 2000 — Wells MW-14/EX-2 (located in the southwest corner of
the site), MW -13 (located in the southeast comer of the site), and well EX -1
were re -developed.
• As of September 20, 2000 (the most recent data currently available), based upon
the extraction rates and analytical data, G -R estimates that the SVE system has
removed approximately 2,349 pounds (lbs.) of TPHg, 102 lbs. of benzene, and
365 lbs. ofMtBE.
• September 22, 2000 — Groundwater extraction was initiated from well MW -14
. (renamed as MW-14/EX-2). A sustainable extraction rate of approximately 0.1
gallons per minute (gpm) was established for both EX -1 and MW-14/EX-2.
• As of September 27, 2000, based upon the extraction rates and analytical data,
G -R estimates that the GWE system has removed approximately 1.67 lb TPHg,
0.099 lb benzene, and 21.1 lb MtBE.
• On September 29, 2000, the field work for a capture zone evaluation was
performed. Preliminary data suggests measurable capture zones around both
well EX -1 and well MW-14/EX-2. Collected field data is currently being
analyzed. Findings will be reported shortly.
CJ
Operation of the soil vapor extraction and groundwater extraction systems are ongoing.
Groundwater is currently being extracted from wells EX -1 and MW-14/EX-2. Monthly
monitoring of the municipal well is also ongoing, and analytical results from this well
continue to show nondetectable concentrations of hydrocarbons. Additional remedial
well installation is proposed in the Work Plan for Additional Site Assessment/Remedial
Well Installation, dated October 9, 2000. This scope of work will be implemented
within 2 weeks of receipt of approval from the RWQCB. Because the proposed
remedial well installation is offsite, the RWQCB may be asked to assist in the
procurement of permits and offsite access to expedite installation of the proposed wells.
07741991.043/Octobcr 9, 2000,doc
