Chevron Products Company Page I
Former Chevron Service Station h9-5775, 301 west Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California August 15, 2001
•
INTRODUCTION
SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR), on behalf of Chevron Products Company
(Chevron), presents operating data for the groundwater extraction (GWE) system at the site
referenced above (Figures I and 2). Chevron discharges treated groundwater at the subject
site under City of Lodi Wastewater Discharge Permit #295.
Extraction and treatment of groundwater was initiated on July 3, 2000, The GWE system
extracts groundwater from site wells EX -1, MW- 14/EX-2, and EX -3. Extracted groundwater
is routed through a particulate filter, then three 2,000 -pound liquid phase activated carbon
vessels (A, B, and C) plumbed in series. A treatment system schematic is shown on Figure 3.
GROUNDWATER EXTRACTION SYSTEM
Samples were collected from the influent port, midpoint 1 (between carbon vessels A and B),
midpoint 2 (between carbon vessels B and C), and the effluent port on July 5, 11, 18, and 25,
2001. During these sampling events, influent (INFL), midpoint 1 (MID -1), midpoint 2 (MID -
2), and effluent (EFFL) samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethyl -benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX compounds), methyl
tertiary butyl ether (MtBE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di -isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl
tertiary butyl ether (EtBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), ethanol, methanol, ethylene
dibromide (EDB), and 1,2-dicholoethane (1,2 -DCA). Maximum concentrations of detected
constituents are presented below. Current and historical analytical information is presented
as Table 1.
Sampling
Constituent (µg/1)
Port
TPHg
MtBE
TBA
EtBE
TAME
Ethanol
INFL
100
900
32
44
10
36
MID -1
<50
40
<5.0
<0.50
<0.50
6.6
MID -2
<50
<0.50
<5.0
<0.50
<0.50
5.4
EFFL
<50
<0.50
<5.0
<0.50
<0.50
11
Explanations
< indicates the constituent was not present at or above the method reporting limit shown
Between June 27and July 25, 2001, the GWE system discharged a total of 331,718 gallons of
treated groundwater over a period of 28 days (Table 2).
