Remedial
system certified analytical reports and chain -of -custody documentation and operation and
maintenance field data sheets are included in Attachments A and B, respectively.
SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION SYSTEM
The SVE system is comprised of four vertical SVE wells (VE -1 through VE -4), a 5
horsepower (hp) positive -displacement blower, and a Falco 100 catalytic oxidizer. The SVE
system is permitted by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) for
operation through May 5, 2010 (Permit No. N-4343-1-0).
Samples were collected inline before (INFL) and after (EFFL) catalytic oxidation bi-monthly
between March 21 and June 20, 2001. During these sampling events samples were analyzed
for TPHg, BTEX compounds, and MtBE. Maximum concentrations of detected constituents
are presented below.
SVE system runtimes were estimated to be 97 percent during the Second Quarter 2001 (Table
3). SVE system operational and analytical data are presented in Table 3. The SVE system
removed approximately 190.5 pounds of TPHg, 0.1 pounds of benzene, and 1.2 pounds
MtBE from soil beneath the site during the Second Quarter, 2001. To date, the SVE system
has removed an estimated 3,928.6 pounds of TPHg, 85.2 pounds of benzene, and 441.4
pounds of MtBE. SVE system emission data is presented in Table 4. Plots of SVE system
mass removal trends and influent soil vapor TPHg, benzene, and MtBE concentrations versus
time are shown on Figures 5 and 6, respectively.
RECOMMENDATIONS
SECOR recommends the continued operation of the GWE and SVE systems.
I:%Chevron19577510&M12ndQuarter 2001120&MR01.doc
Constituent (ppmv)
Sampling
Location
TPHg Benzene Toluene
Ethyl- Xylenes MtBE
benzene
INFL
74 ND 1.9
1.3 9.5 0.38
EFFL
11 ND 0.3
0.23 2.1 ND
Explanations:
ND = Not Detected above method detection limits
ppmv = Parts per million by volume
SVE system runtimes were estimated to be 97 percent during the Second Quarter 2001 (Table
3).
