Work Plan - Tosco (Former BP Oil) Station No 11194, Tracy California <br />•' Apnl 25, 2000 <br />PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK <br />The proposed scope of work includes arranging for Tosco's contractor to collect 5,000 <br />gallons of groundwater a week (combined total) from wells AMW-5, OBS -E and OBS -W <br />(Figure 1), and transporting the water to Tosco's refinery, collecting groundwater samples <br />from monitoring well MW -2, subnutting the samples to a state certified analytical laboratory <br />for chemical analysis, collecting data during groundwater purging to estimate the influence of <br />the purging on surrounding wells, and preparing a report presenting the observations <br />associated with the groundwater purging and performance test <br />Task 1 Groundwater Purging and Sampling , <br />Groundwater will be purged directly from the casing of wells AMW-5, OBS -E and OBS -W <br />into a 5,000 gallon vacuum truck and transported by Onyx Industrial Services, Inc (Onyx) to <br />the Tosco Refinery in Rodeo, California, for disposal Groundwater samples will be collected <br />from well MW -2 prior to initiating the purging program and periodically thereafter The <br />results of these samples, in conjunction with the results of the quarterly groundwater <br />monitoring and sampling of the twelve monitoring wells, will be used to evaluate the <br />effectiveness of the groundwater purging Based on this evaluation, recommendations for <br />modification of this proposed scope of work, including further performance testing and/or the <br />purging of other wells in addition to wells AMW-5, OBS -E and OBS -W, will be made as <br />warranted <br />Task 2 Groundwater Sampling and Analysis <br />GR proposes to collect groundwater samples from well MW -2 and submit the samples to <br />Sequoia Analytical (Sequoia), in Walnut Creek, California (FLAP #1271), under chain -of - <br />custody documentation Groundwater sampling outside of the normal quarterly monitoring <br />and sampling events will be conducted in accordance with GR Field Methods and Procedures <br />(attached) <br />The analytical program will include analyses for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br />(TPHg) by EPA Method 8015 modified, and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes <br />(BTEX) and MtBE by EPA Method 8020 The analytical results of the groundwater samples <br />will be used evaluate the effectiveness of the purging program Analytical results will be <br />documented in status reports to be submitted to Tosco and the San Joaquin County <br />Environmental Health Division <br />r14018704 <br />2 <br />
