the nearest 0 01 foot, referenced to an arbitrary datum of 100 00 feet The surveyor was unable to
identify an established benchmark in the site vicinity The surveyor's report is included as Appendix
C
2 3 3 Groundwater Monitoring, Sampling and Analysis
On June 2, 1998, prior to groundwater pumping, depth-to-groundwater was monitored using a
water level indicator capable of measurements to within 0 01 foot Following groundwater level
measurement, the wells were purged with an electric pump and sampled
Groundwater was sampled from the wells using a disposable bailer and laboratory-supplied
containers Each sample container was labeled, packaged in an iced cooler and transported under
chain-of-custody documentation to Kiff Analytical, L L C (Kiff) a state of California-certified
hazardous waste testing laboratory (DOHS #2236) Kiff analyzed the groundwater samples on a
standard turn-around time of 5 working days for TPH-as-diesel, TPH-as-gasoline, BTEX and MTBE
by Modified EPA Methods 8015 and 8020 To evaluate the possible presence of alcohol- and
ether-based oxygenate compounds, Kiff also analyzed the 3 groundwater samples collected from
the monitoring wells by EPA Method 8260
. 2 3 4 Waste Storage and Disposal
All waste sod, equipment ansate wastewater and purged groundwater were contained in separate
55-gallon drums for temporary storage and proper disposal Since no detectable concentrations of
diesel or gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples analyzed from SB-6 and MW-2, the
sod from these bonngs was emptied from the drums and disposed of by spreading on the site The
remaining waste soil will be transported off-site for disposal, once the waste profiling process is
completed Documentation of the waste soil disposal will be forwarded to PHS/EHD, upon
completion of this task
On July 2, 1998, Ramos Environmental Services (Ramos) removed approximately 150 gallons of
wastewater from the site Ramos recycled the wastewater at their facility in West Sacramento,
California A copy of the waste manifest is included in Appendix D
• 7
