2.2 Location and Depth Drilling will take place at a time agreed upon by TVG and CFM but not later than 30 days after approval of San Joaquin County,near the previous position of the gasoline tank on the site. Hollow stem auger/wireline continuous core drilling will be employed to drill and collect samples. Samples will be collected at 15, 17 and 20 feet to determine the sediment type. By applying a field screening methods relying on a PID, odor'and visual alterations such as discoloration, samples will be selected for analysis in a way that a high quality study can be generated. i Since new, clean backfill was used to fill in the excavation, we propose to sample just below the new backfill. We estimate the depth to be at 17 feet. If field monitoring indicates the presence of hydrocarbons at 17 feet, then an additional sample will be taken at 20 feet. One soil sample from the capillary fringe zone will be collected and submitted f r analysis. See Figure 2 for ;k location of soil boring. .. 2.3 Soil Sampling The samples will be taken at the appropriate d,'epths using a brass tube that will be sealed and logged under chain of custody. 2.4 Monitoring Wells I� At this time, no provision for monitoring wells is being planned. The previous monitoring well located at the site indicated that no groundwater contamination had occurred. Since the time of the original investigation, the site has been sealed with an impervious layers of asphalt that should have prevented leaching of any potential contaminants. '4 2.5 Boring Logs i Detailed logs will be made of the boring. The information gathered will include: sample depths, horizons of detectablercontamination, if any, (using field monitoring techniques), soil classification according to the Unified Soils Classification System.
