ii U
4.3 Chain of Custody
I
Chain of Custody forms are considered legal 4documents used to track the
{ handling of samples. All dates, times, persons and their companies will be
fisted from the time the sample is collected to its ultimate disposal. A
Chain of Custody form will be filled out for all samples taken.
F
4.4 Sample Analysis ,
A ,I
Any samples collected will be taken to a California certified laboratory at
the end of the day. The soil sample(s) will be analyzed for gasoline
according to modified EPA Method 8015. This method quantifies gasoline
compounds by a solvent extraction of hydrocarbons from the soil matrix,
injection of the solvent into the capillary column of a gas chromatograph,
and flame ionization detection of hydrocarbons. Method 8020 will be used
for analysis of BTEX.
1 '1
4.5 Detection limits for the Analyses
The detection limit for metals in soils is as follows:
Detection
rt Method Analyte Limit `
I: Mod 8015 Gasoline 2.5 mg/kg.
8020 Benzene 5 µg/kg
C 8020 Ethyl Benzene 5 µg%kg
I 8020 Toluene 5 pg/kg
8020 Xylene 5 pg/kg
:
l '
! Work Plan # Page S
Custom Food Machinery
July 1, 1992 h
