I'F 11.2 Sample Collection During Tank Removal Soil samples will be collected as soon as possible after removal of the tank. Where feasible, all preparations for soil sampling will be made prior to tank removal. Soil samples collected from a backhoe bucket or directly from the excavation floor will be collected in a thin-walled l� stainless steel or brass cylinder at least 3-inches long by 1-inch in diameter. From 3 to 24- inches of soil will be removed from the immediate surface area where the sample is to be taken and the cylinder will then be pounded into the soil with a wooden mallet, bulk density driver, or other decontaminated driving device. No headspace will be present in the cylinder once the I sample is collected. Care will be taken to avoid contamination of both the inside and outside of the cylinder as well as its contents.
