ff
iGregg Drilling installed CPT#1 to a depth of 90 feet with soil and groundwater sampling to a depth of
78 feet on March 3,2003.Three samples of soil and three samples of the groundwater were extracted and
analyzed. All CPT soil and groundwater samples were analyzed as non detect.
On Apri11 b,2004 pump and treat remediation began with pumping the extraction well, pumping the water
through an activated carbon filter, filling the tank, sample and testing the cleaned water, and trucking the
water to the industrial sewer. Quality control samples were taken and analyzed weekly.
EXISTING B"EXTRACTION WELL
EXISTING UgCHJG
SAPLOIN FOR fiGMOUE DWNE
IR BAKER Al
EXISTING 17 X 20'BELOW GROUND CONC.VAULT
1.25"01
C IHSRG LINE ROABAKER TA
BAKER TANK 21,000
CARBON CANISTER
1 HP SUBMERSABLE PUMP VOL.-+1-12 GPM MAX
80'EXTRACTION WELL AT W.T.0-45'
GENERAL SCHEMATIC SKETCH OF PUMP&TREAT SYSTEM
FOOTHLL ENGWEERING LOG.CA
FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THIS EVENT
Sampling Procedure
On May 17, 2004, Del-Tech Geotechnical Services, under the supervision of Foothill Engineering
performed a quarterly groundwater monitoring event. Marcel Delacruz of Caltrans was notified of the
monitoring event,as required by Caltrans Permit No.1002-6NV-0218.All monitoring wells were vented
and purged by standard of the industry methods(see Groundwater Field Report by Del-Tech Geotechnical
Services, attached). GMX-1 was purged by hand,MW-2 had very little water and sample was collected
by hand, MW-3 was purged at .2gpm, MW-4 had very little water and sample was collected by hand,
EW-1 was sampled from the valve on the treatment system before the activated carbon filter. Pumping
of groundwater samples were extracted from each monitoring well using the Watera Inertia Pump
technique with dedicated sample tubes. Samples were transported on ice for delivery under chain of
custody to GeoAnalytical Laboratories for analysis.
Sample Analysis
Water samples were analyzed by EPA methods 8015M for TPHg and 8260B for BTEX and Oxygenates.
Results of all sample analyses are attached in the original laboratory form and also in recap form (See
Water Sample Analysis Recap attached).
Findings From Water Sample Analysis
MTBE concentrations in monitoring wells EW-1,MW-2,MW-3,and MW-4 continue to be non-detect.
Monitoring well GMX-1 has developed trace amounts of MTBE. TPHg has decreased dramatically in
10EW-1, GMX-1(92%), and MW-2. TPHg has remained non-detect in MW-3, and MW-4. BTEX
compounds have decreased dramatically in EW-1, GMX-1(98%), and MW-2. The BTEX compounds
remain non-detect in wells MW-3, and MW-4.
2
