The CPT interpretive logs are provided in
Appendix C.
The CPT-sounding borehole was backfilled from total depth to surface grade by inserting hollow
rods to total depth of the boring and backfilling with a portland type II cement grout mix.
2.1.2. Grab Ground Water and Soil Sample Collection and Analysis
' Grab ground water and soil samples were collected from separate soil borings advanced immediately
adjacent to the CPT boring. The samples were collected utilizing the 25-ton truck-mounted CPT drill
' rig equipped with 1.75-inch diameter hollow-stem rods. The rod assembly was fitted with either a
steel-tipped, HydroPunch ground water sampler or piston soil sampler; diagrams of the sampling
assemblies are illustrated in Appendix C. Ground water and soil samples were collected from
' specified depth intervals (zones) based on CPT lithologic data acquired from the initial CPT
sounding indicating favorable conditions for sampling.
' Discreet ground water samples were collected from four separate borings adjacent to the CPT-1
boring location at the following depths: 62, 70, 90, and 99.5 feet bsg. Ground water samples were
' collected by advancing the HydroPunch sampling assembly to the specified depths, then withdrawing
approximately 3 to 4 feet to expose an inlet screen;the interior of the sampling tool filled with water
and a 1-inch outer diameter stainless steel bailer was lowered and utilized to extract a ground water
' sample. Each ground water sample was transferred into four laboratory-supplied 40-milliliter(ml)
volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials without preservative.
' Discreet soil samples were collected from another separate boring adjacent to the CPT-1 boring at
depths of 14,66,79,89,and 97 feet bsg.The steel-tipped,piston soil sampling assembly was pushed
into the zone, then the tip was withdrawn to expose a core barrel;the soil sampler was pushed down
' again to retrieve a 1-foot soil sample. Upon soil sample retrieval,a brass sleeve was removed from
the sampler. The ends of the brass sleeve were immediately covered with Teflon sheets, sealed with
plastic end caps, and secured with tape.
' Following collection, the grab ground water and soil samples were properly labeled, placed in a
chilled container and transported under chain of custody procedures to Cal Tech Environmental
Laboratories(CTEL),a State of California Department of Health Services(DHS)-certified analytical
laboratory in Paramount, California, for analysis. The samples were analyzed for:
' Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015M; and
Advanced GeoEvironmental Inc.
