Advance at least one soil boring near the source area
to a minimal depth of 60 feet to obtain soil and groundwater samples to assess the vertical extent of
the contamination. Additional deep borings may be required based on field data.
2) Environmental Health Department (EHD) considers vertical delineation of soil contamination with
minimally two consecutive five-foot samples having non-detectable contaminant concentrations.
3) Minimally one of the deepest borings must be continuously cored with acetate sleeve for the auger
stem or boring equipment. Alternatively a cone penetrometer could be used to evaluate the site
geology.
4) Implement work by June 20, 2002.
5) Develop groundwater -monitoring wells no sooner than 12 hours after grouting.
REASONS FOR DISAPPROVAL OF THE WORKPLAN (H&S 25299.37, subd.(C)(3).):
N one
Jeffrey Wong, REHS
Nuel C.
