SACRAMENTO
February 7, 1989 s r,
h
Ms. Letitia Resch
San Joaquin Local Health District
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Reference: Application for Permit to Construct Monitoring Wells
and/or Soil Borings for the Purpose of Subsurface
Investigations at 2400 Airport Way, Stockton, California;
ilersar Job No, 6147.323
Dear Ms. Resch:
The purpose of this letter is to present our work plan and apply for
permits to drill three soil borings at the site located at 2400 Airport
Way in Stockton, California. The purpose of the work is to characterize
the site prior to being developed into a service station. This property
transfer assessment is being completed for the current property owner to
fulfill a lender's requirement. It is important to note that there is
no evidence of potential contamination and that we have no reason to
suspect or anticipate encountering any subsurface contamination.
The subject site is depicted in Figure 1, Attachment I . The site is
located at 2400 Airport Way in the southwest quadrant of the
intersection of Tenth Street and Airport Way. The Assessor's Parcel
Number for the property is 169-100-29. No detailed records of past
operations at the site are available; however, it is reported that a
service station operated from approximately 1956 to 1977. The only
records available of past operations include two crude site diagrams
which were on file with the Fire Department. The Fire Department
records are included here as Attachment II. The records indicate that
tanks were installed in 1956, then replaced in 1964, and later,
reportedly removed. No records were available from the San Joaquin
Local Health District files. Furthermore, there are no records on file
with the district regarding the removal of the underground storage tanks
or any subsurface sampling.
The objectives of this property assessment sampling are to (1) make
an initial determination if any subsurface contamination is present from
the past operation of underground storage tanks; (2) determine the
extent of the contamination; and (3) accurately determine the
concentrations of any petroleum hydrocarbons present in the soil . To
accomplish this, soil samples will be collected for chemical analyses
during the drilling of three boreholes. After the boreholes have been
drilled they will be completed with neat cement. The proposed locations
of the boreholes are shown in Figure 2, Attachment I.
5330 PRIMROSE DRIVE 0 SUITE 228 0 FAIR OAKS,CALIFORNIA 95628 0 TELEPHONE: (916) 962.1612
