2 GROUNDWATER MONITORING
Under the direction of the S3CEHD letter dated September 24, 2004 and their approval of
PSC's recommendations in the June 2004 Site Investigation Report, a quarterly groundwater
monitoring event was performed PSC subcontractor Kleinfelder, Inc performed the
groundwater monitoring on October 7, 8, and 11, 2004 The findings are presented in the
following sections Tables for groundwater elevations, well depths, and analytical results are
included as attached Tables Contour maps for groundwater elevations, benzene
concentrations, and TPH-G concentrations are included as attached Figures Field data forms
are included in Appendix A Laboratory analytical reports are included in Appendix B
2.1 Groundwater Monitoring Procedures
Groundwater elevations and total depth measurements were obtained from
thirteen (13) monitoring wells (MW)s (MW-1 through-13), six sparging
wells (SP)s (SP-1 through—6), two piezometers (PZ)s (PZ-1 and—2), and one
vent well (VW-1) Well depths, groundwater levels, and the potential
presence of free phase gasoline product were measured in each well prior to
sampling utilizing an electronic oil/water interface probe In addition, prior to
purging the wells, the first bailer of purge water was visually observed for free
product
Groundwater samples were collected and submitted for analysis from the
following locations MW-1, MW-5, MW-7, MW-8, MW-10, MW-11, MW-
12,1SPA, SP-2, SP-3, SP-4, SP-5, SP-6, PZ-1, and PZ-2 -
Prior to sample collection, the wells were purged a minimum of three well
casing volumes with a dedicated bailer in order to collect a representative
sample The purged water was monitored for stability utilizing the field
parameters of pH, conductivity, temperature, and the visual observation of
water clarity The purged water was stored in 55-gallon drums and the drums
were transported to PSC's licensed California waste disposal facility
Upon purging the appropriate volume of groundwater, sample aliquots were
retrieved and placed in laboratory provided containers The containers were
properly labeled, and stored in an iced chest under chain-of-custody The
samples were then submitted to the analytical laboratory for analysis
Groundwater samples were analyzed for TPH-G, BTEX, TBA, MTBE, DIPE,
ETBE, TAME, and 1,2-DCA
