File No 2070-2
17 February 1993
Page 2
0
Following completion of the well purging, the wells were allowed to recharge prior to sampling
Upon adequate recharge, each of the wells was sampled via a sterile, discrete, disposable bailer The
groundwater samples were placed in sterile containers, stored on ice and transported to Eureka
Laboratories, Inc, a State of California certified analytical laboratory. Laboratory analyses were
conducted for the following parameters.
• total petroleum hydrocarbons (method 8015 modified),
• aromatic volatile organics (EPA method 602),
• total lead (EPA method 6010).
Field Data and Site Determinations
The site-specific groundwater gradient for the final quarter of 1992 could not be determined due to
insufficient data However, based on the two groundwater elevations obtained, it appears that the
groundwater gradient slopes toward the east, consistent with past groundwater gradient calculations.
While obtaining the groundwater samples, particular attention was paid to whether any noticeable
petroleum hydrocarbon odor, discoloration or floating product was evident in the wells The
following was noted during our sampling
• The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-1 had a strong
petroleum hydrocarbon odor. The water was slightly discolored gray No floating
product was noted
• The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-8 had no noticeable
odor, discoloration or floating product
Groundwater Sample Results
Two groundwater samples were submitted to Eureka Laboratories, Inc , a State of California certified
analytical laboratory, for analysis for petroleum hydrocarbon constituents. Table II summarizes the
results of the laboratory analyses Figure 2 illustrates the locations of the monitoring wells and their
corresponding contaminant concentrations A copy of the laboratory results is included in Appendix
I
Disposition of Purged Well Water
Groundwater purged from the monitoring wells was containerized in a 55-gallon drum and stored on
the site Following receipt of the analytical data, Ramos Environmental Services of West Sacramento
collected and disposed of the drummed water on 22 January 1993 as a RCRA hazardous waste liquid
under Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest number 92508806
ANDERSON
CONSULTING
GROUP
uJ
