File No 2070-2
17 February 1993
Page 3
Conclusions
The following conclusions are based on data obtained during the final quarter 1992 groundwater
sampling event as well as prior samplings
• The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-1, located in the
center of the prior tank cluster, had detectable levels of petroleum hydrocarbons,
consistent with prior samplings
• The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-8, located furthest
down-gradient from the site of the release, had no detectable levels of petroleum
hydrocarbons, consistent with prior samplings
• A low level of lead was detected in the groundwater sample collected from
monitoring well MW-1 during this sampling event. Prior sampling events had failed
to detect lead in this well.
• No lead was detected in the groundwater sample collected from monitoring well
MW-8 during this current sampling event
Anticipated Further Actions
An analysis of subsurface conditions is currently being performed to evaluate the best remedial
options for maximizing the effectiveness of a groundwater treatment system Following completion
of the analysis, a Final Remediation Plan (FRP) describing the installation and operation of a
treatment system will be submitted As of this letter, a date for beginning preparation of the FRP
has not yet been determined Until an FRP is submitted, quarterly sampling of the groundwater
quality will continue
ANDERSON
C CONSULTING
`_ GROUP
