1 <br /> Page 3 <br />' Ms Margaret Lagono <br /> February 21, 1997 <br />' MONITORING ACTIVITIES <br />' Groundwater sampling for this quarterly monitoring event was performed between <br /> December 16 and 18, 1996 Depth to groundwater and the presence or absence of phase <br /> separated hydrocarbons (PSH) was evaluated in each monitoring well Groundwater <br />' sampling procedures are presented in Appendix A Water sample field data sheets are <br /> presented in Appendix B <br /> Groundwater samples were submitted under proper chain of custody control to Western <br />' Environmental Science & Technology of Davis, California Samples were analyzed in <br /> accordance with United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) guidelines for <br /> total volatile hydrocarbons-gasoline (TVH-G), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and <br />' total xylenes (BTEX) compounds using USEPA Methods Modified 8015 and 602, <br /> respectively <br /> Groundwater samples were also collected and analyzed for various parameters to indicate <br />' the occurrence of natural intrinsic biodegradation Groundwater sample collection and <br /> analytical procedures followed those described in Protocol for Monitoring Intrinsic <br /> Bioremediation to Groundwater (included in Appendix A), which was provided to Philip <br /> by the Santa Clara Valley Water Quality District LUST Oversight Program for a similar <br /> project within their jurisdiction These parameters include alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, <br /> oxidation-reduction(redox)potential, pH, specific conductivity, temperature, nitrate, <br />' sulfate, and ferrous iron <br /> QUARTERLY MONITORING RESULTS <br />' Groundwater elevationetrol <br /> p earn hydrocarbon analytical, and biodegradation <br /> assessment data are contained in the following sections <br />' Groundwater Elevations Data - <br />' Groundwater elevation measurements for this quarter are presented in Table 1 Historical <br /> groundwater elevation measurements are in Table 2 Groundwater elevations measured in <br /> facility monitoring wells on December 16, 1996, ranged from-30 04 to -3105 feet MSL <br />' Groundwater levels in all but three wells increased approximately 0 75 to 0 97 feet from <br /> the previous monitoring event, while groundwater levels in MW-1, MW-7, and MW-10 <br /> decreased 0 08 to 0 23 feet As shown in Figure 3, Potentiometric Groundwater <br />' <br /> Elevatiol Contour Map, the groundwater flow direction is easterly at a gradient of about 2 6 x 10" foot per foot This groundwater flow direction vanes somewhat from the radial <br /> pattern delineated in the third quarter 1996 monitoring event, but is generally consistent <br /> with historic water level data <br /> 1 <br /> E 121382112599714gtr96 doc <br />
