3 GROUNDWATER MONITORING RESULTS
Groundwater elevation data, and analytical results are discussed in this section
Laboratory analytical reports are contained in Appendix B
3.1 Groundwater Elevation Data
Groundwater elevations measured in site monztonng wells on August 1, 2002
(summarized in Table 1), ranged from minus (-) 25 27 feet to—26 05 feet
MSL Groundwater levels in the wells decreased approximately 2 feet from
the previous April 2002 monitoring event As shown in Figure 3, the
groundwater flow direction is easterly at a gradient of about 2 2 x 10-3 feet per
linear foot, which is consistent with historic trends
3.2 BTEX and TPH-G Analytical Results
Since the installation of new sparging well SP-A, petroleum hydrocarbon
concentrations in groundwater samples have significantly decreased by a
factor of about 10 As shown 1n Table 4, petroleum concentrations 1n the
groundwater sample collected this quarter well from well MW-1 continue to
decrease compared to the previous quarter Petroleum concentrations from the
other more highly impacted wells (SP-1 and PZ-1) are relatively consistent
compared to the previous quarter It is PSC's opinion that decreases were not
' observed in samples from SP-1 and PZ-1 because of limited sparging capacity
from a failing sparge compressor PSC will install a new sparge compressor in
September 2002 1-I, a 14V
YJ
_ mt1t
BTEX and TPH-G compoun were detected in groundwater samples
collected from wells MW-1, P-1, SP-2, PZ-1, and PZ-2 There were no
' detectable petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations measured in samples from
wells MW-4, MW-9, MW-10, M 1 and MW-13
1 The highest BTEX concentrations still appear to be centered in the vicinity of
the former gasoline USTs near wells SP-1, SP-2 and PZ-1 (see Figure 4)
Detected benzene concentrations ranged from 2 9 µg/l in the sample collected
from well MW-I to 670 µg/l in the sample from SP-1 Toluene ranged from
3 6 µg/l in the sample from MW-I to 260 µg/l in the sample from PZ-2
Ethylbenzene ranged from 1 9 gg/1 in the sample from MW-I to
310 µg/l in the sample from PZ-2 Xylenes ranged from 16 µg/1 in the sample
from MW-1 to 2,000 [tg/1 1n the sample from SP-1
Higher TPH-G concentrations are similarly centered near the former gasoline
USTs (Figure 5) TPH-G concentrations were measured in the MW-1,
9
August 2042 Groundwater Monitoring And Remediation Status Report
The Earthgrams Baking Company
2651 South Airport Way Stockton,California
Prepared for THE EARTIIGRAINs BAKING COMPANY Prepared by Philip Services Corp
H 1ENV%62400132%121382FOLSiockmn\Stocklon10802mon doc September 2,2002
