Well MW-1 will not be used as the vent well at this time because of recent <br /> ' rises in the groundwater level and the lack of available screen above the <br /> water table <br /> The venting blower will have a capacity of at least 25 scfm at 55 in H2O <br /> ' vacuum and will be equipped with all necessary filters, flow meters,vacuum <br /> relief valves, vacuum gauges, flow control valves, and sample ports <br /> ' Recovered vapors will be treated with granular activated carbon prior to <br /> discharge A vapor/liquid separator will also be used to remove condensate <br /> from the vapor stream <br /> 4.1.3 Sparge and Vent Piping <br /> P g <br /> ' The air sparging and soil venting wells will be located near the former source <br /> area as shown in Appendix C, Sheet 2 The sparge and vent piping will be <br /> comprised of flexible hose installed above grade Piping locations are shown <br /> in Appendix C, Sheet 4 The piping will be routed along the top of pavement <br /> to the equipment area Connections will be of the quick connect type to <br /> facilitate hose draining or replacement <br /> The air sparging well will be connected to the compressor with `/z-inch air <br /> hose and the soil venting well will be connected to the blower with <br /> vacuum-rated 2-inch PVC hose <br /> ' 4 1 4 Vapor Treatment <br /> The proposed remediation system will use two granular activated carbon <br /> (GAC) adsorbers installed in series Each GAC adsorber will contain <br /> approximately 200 pounds of carbon Hydrocarbon impacted air will pass <br /> through the GAC adsorbers where hydrocarbon compounds will be filtered to <br /> ' levels acceptable for atmospheric discharge Vapor samples collected from <br /> between the two GAC adsorber will be used to evaluate the need for <br /> replacement of the first adsorber The spent GAC will be returned to the <br />' supplier for regeneration Permits to treat and emit impacted air will be <br /> obtained from the local air quality management district <br /> 4.1.5 System Control Panel <br />' Electrical control panels containing IEC motor starters,thermal overloads, <br /> fuses, relays, and a control-voltage transformer will be utilized for operation <br /> and control of the motors.
