Spanos Jet Center
4800 South Airport Way. Stockton. California
Dear Mr. Wilson:
Wright Environmental Services. Inc. (Wright) is pleased;to provide the A.G. Spanos Jet
Center with this letter report documenting soil and groundwater-grab sampling activities
and results from the above-referenced underground storage tank (UST) site.
4 !
A total of three USTs currently exist at the site (Figure 1). One 12.000-gallon aviation
-asoline UST and one 12.000-gallon jet fuel UST are scheduled for removal. One
existing 20.000-gallon jet fuel UST will remain in service. New replacement USTs will
be installed in the same excavation as the removed USTs or in an alternate location,
depending on the presence and extent of any impacted soil in the original UST
excavation. i
Scope of Work
jj
The primary objective of this soil and groundwater-grab sampling effort was to determine
if subsurface soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the existing USTs and at an alternate
UST location have been impacted by aviation gasoline and/or jet fuel hydrocarbons. In
addition. the data collected during this investigation willl$e used by a civil engineer to
design shoring for the excavation and determine other subsurface soil engineering
parameters. A registered civil engineer will prepare and submit the engineering results in
a separate report. I
On October 23. 1998. Spectrum Exploration drilled two soil borings at the site using a
truck-mounted drilling rite, equipped with 8-inch outside;diameter hollow-stem augers.
The drilling was performed under'San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Di%inion (PHS/EHD') Permit :40 1 7"N7. One soil boring (B-1.) was
positioned 1long the east side of the existini-3 11000--ailon a'iation gasoline LST and the
other soil boring (B-2) was located at the alternate LSI' location. approximately 150 west
j { of B-l (Figure 1 ).
r i ,'
{
67 E. 10th Street .
