During the SVE tests, the influent and effluent air stream from the SVE unit will be monitored
using a PID. To confirm PID measurements and to verify the performance of the activated carbon
abatement, influent and effluent sail vapor samples will be collected during each of the SVE tests,
The soil vapor samples will be collected in eedlarT bags, which will be labeled and transported
with chain-of-custody documentation to a state of California-certified hazardous ardous waste testing
laboratory, The laboratory will analyze the soil vapor samples for T l -as-gasoline, 13TEX and
MTBE by EPA Method 8020/8015M and/or 8260B.
3.3.2 Air S ar e'Test
To evaluate air sp rging as a groundwater remediation alternative, Rarnage Environmental will
complete an 3-hour air sparge test, Air sparging should be effective in remediating impacted
groundwater and saturated soil below the groundwater table.
Prior to starting the AS test, Ramage Environmental will monitor the groundwater table elevation,
observation well pressure, dissolved oxygen in groundwater, and soil gas parameters (oxygen,
carbon dioxide, urethane, organic vapors, oxygen reduction potential, and ferrous iron) in the
observation wells MW-1, MW-3 and the throe proposed SVE wells).
The AS test equipment will include a -horsepower coil-less air compressor, electric generator,
air-hoses, flow gauges and multiple pressure gavages connected to air-tight well caps, During the
AS test, air from the oil-loss corepressor will be injected into the air sparge test well at rates of up
to 3 cfrn, and pressure readings will be collected from the test well and the observation wells,
The test well and observation wells will be monitored with field instruments every hour during the
3-hour AS test, The monitoring parameters will include the groundwater table elevation, air
injection pressure, operating pressure, injected air-flow rate, observation well pressure, dissolved
oxygen in groundwater, and the soil gas parameters (oxygen, carbon dioxide, and organic
vapors), One hour after the completion of the -hamar test, the find monitoring parameters will be
measured,
3,3.3 Groundwater
rarrr lin ;for I lidrobial Anal cis
To evaluate the existing subsurface microbial populations, and to evaluate monitored natural
attenuation as a remedial alternative, groundwater samples will be collected from MW-1MW-1 and MW-.
3 for microbial analysis, before the air sparge test.
