1. <br /> 1 <br /> 2 0 SCOPE OF WORK <br />' <br /> The objectives of the investigation were to further define the extent of impacted soil and <br /> groundwater, and establish a groundwater monitoring capability at the site To achieve these <br /> objectives, three on-site groundwater monitoring wells were installed, surveyed, monitored and <br /> sampled <br />' 21 <br /> Planning and Permitting <br /> Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan was prepared according to 29 <br /> CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan included safety procedures for work to be performed, <br /> chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and a medical emergency location <br /> To perform the drilling scope of work, monitoring well permit (SR #0031328) was obtained from <br /> EHD Since all of the drilling was conducted on-site, neither off-site access agreements nor <br /> encroachment permits were required At least two working days prior to field work, Ramage <br /> Environmental notified EHD so that any inspections could be scheduled Underground Service <br /> Alert was also notified to complete utility clearance inspections (USA Ticket#429347) <br /> 22 Groundwater Monitoring Well Installations <br /> On October 21 and 22, 2002, under the supervision of Ramage Environmental, Mitchell Drilling <br /> (C-57 License#672617) installed three on-site groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2 and <br />' MW-3) with a CME-75 drilling rig and 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers Monitoring well MW-1 <br /> was located near the south end of Tank 1 and near a former dispenser island Monitoring well <br /> MW-2 was located near the south end of the former 20,000 gallon tet fuel UST (CA-1) Monitoring <br />' well MW-3 was located approximately 40 feet northeast of the previous soil boring SB-4 The <br /> monitoring well locations are shown on Figure 3 <br />' 2 2 1 Monitoring Well Construction, Development and Elevation Survey <br /> Mitchell Drilling installed all three wells to total depths of approximately 65 feet bgs All three wells <br /> were constructed with 20 feet of two-inch diameter, Schedule 40, flush-threaded and machine- <br /> slotted (0 020-inch) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) well screen Blank PVC casings were threaded into <br /> the tops of the well screens and extended to the surface <br /> 7 <br /> 1 <br />
