uuyG(R$ OESMERSCC��IINiS An estimated 2,000 ft' of soil containing an estimated 6 6 lbs TPHe was removed during the excavation of Tank 4 The estimated extent of TPHe impacted soil remaining in place is 1,500 ft' The estimated mass of TPHe present in soil is 3 8 lbs ' Tanks UT-1 and UT-2 The soil samples collected from the Tank UT-1 and UT-2 excavations were analyzed for BTEX ' and total petroleum hydrocarbons-purgeable (TPHp) These analytes were not detected in soil samples collected from the tank excavations , 3.2 GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION The results of analyses conducted on groundwater samples collected at the site are summarized in Table 5 TPHe is the pnmary contaminant found in groundwater at the site Figure 9 presents the extent of TPHe in groundwater Tanks 1 and 2 ' Five rounds of groundwater samples have been collected from the three monitor wells installed w near Tanks 1 and 2 The groundwater samples were analyzed for BTEX and TPHe Low concentrations of TPHe have been detected consistently in MW-1 and sporadically in MW-2 and MW-3 Benzene was detected-in one sample collected from-MW-3 This was an isolated occurrence and does not appear to be a site contaminant Samples from MW-1 and the water supply well were analyzed for MTBE as part of the closure process MTBE was not detected in either sample (Appendix A) 1 Tank 3 The H dro unchq' sample collected near the former Tank 3 excavation (HP-1) was analyzed for ' Y P BTEX, TPHe and TPHp TPHe was detected in the groundwater sample at 0 88 mglL BTEX e and TPHp were not detected in the sample Tank 4 The Hydropunch" sample collected near the former Tank 4 excavation (HP-2) was analyzed for BTEX, TPHe and TPHp TPHe, toluene, and xylene were detected at 1 3 mg/L, 5 µg/L, and 2 6 µg/L, respectively, in the groundwater sample L\PROJECTMSAN30QWCMVCD 4 3 May 1996 ,
