01
Work Plan for Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation at the California Army National Guard
Stockton Field Maintenance Shop, Stockton, California
3.7 INVESTIGATION DERIVED WASTE (IDW)
During the installation of groundwater wells, and subsequent quarterly groundwater monitoring
events, IDW in the form of soil from borings, disposable equipment, development water,
decontamination rinseate, and excess purge water will be generated. IDW will be managed
separately as follows:
• Soil, disposable personal protective equipment (PPE), and other solid generated
during well installation and/or routine groundwater monitoring events will be
containerized in appropriately -labeled 55 -gallon DOT -rated drums. These materials
may be stored together or in separate containers based on volume constraints or a
field assessment regarding combining wastes.
• Development water and decontamination rinseate (well installation), and purge water
and decontamination rinseate (groundwater sampling events) will be containerized in
appropriately -labeled 55 -gallon DOT -rated drums.
IDW will be stored on site, at locations to be agreed on with site personnel in advance, pending
characterization and profiling for disposal as described below.
Representative samples of IDW will be collected from each drum and submitted to a California -
certified laboratory under appropriate COC documentation. Specific analyses for profiling may
vary and will be subject to the specific requirements of the disposal facility. Analyses will likely
include:
• TPH-d, TPH-g using USEPA Method SW8015-Modified:
• BTEX and Oxygenates using USEPA Method 8260B; and
• CAM 17 metals using USEPA Method 601013/7000.
•
Laboratory analyses will be used to complete the waste profiles submitted to the disposal
facility. Upon disposal facility approval of the waste profiles, the drums will be transported
offsite by a licensed waste hauler, and disposed of at an approved, licensed disposal facility.
OTI E
