I
It is concluded: (1) that the contamination found when the
tank was removed in May, 1989 was from incidental surface
spills that occurred when fueling equipment, (2) that the
ground water has not been impacted and (3) that no further
work is needed to demonstrate these Conclusions .
Therefore, permission should be granted to abandon and plug
the monitor wells according to County standards whenever
application is made for such work. f
PROPOSED ABANDONMENT .PROGRAM '
(General )
1 . File proposals for abandonment with San Joaquin County i
for each well . (Notify EHD prior °to plugging) k
2 . Dig out and remove the well vaults at the surface .
3 . Move in and rig up boring equipment on each well i
in turn.
4. Attempt to pull the casing strings from each well .
5 . If the strings cannot be removed, bore over the casing
with an auger bit until it is free, and then remove same
from the well .
6 . Clean out the bore hole .
7 . Plug the well with either a cement-3% bentonite mix or
a cement-sand grout from bottom to surface . The cement
can be emplaced either with a tremie ,.pipe from bottom up
or by displacing down the auger pipe and while gradually
pulling the pipe from the hole .
B . Clear the surface around the well bore and restore
to level .
R.
1 a
LEN
Dennis R.
