1 Revised LFR Levine-Fricke
An outline of the proposed pilot test using the above technologies is presented in
Section 4 0
4.0 PILOT TEST SEQUENCE
The pilot testing will consist of four phases Phase I will consist of field work to collect
air flow and preset n monitoring data using the well configurations outlined in
Section 4.1 Phase II pilot testing will consist of a longer duration SVE test Phase III
will consist of air spargiug and SVE which will be used to assess pressure response and
the.reduction in V 4C concentrations in the vadose zone aAd the saturated zone A
Phase IV pilot test will consist of a combined SVE and ozone sparging study
4.1 Phase 1 Tests
The SVE test sequence will consist of step and constant-rate tests at one fully screemd
well location (FSEW-3) and at one of the partially screened well cluster locations
(PSEW-4, S, and 6) A passive monitoring baseline test will be performed before any
active extraction test to provide a refereme for VOC concerarations measured durum
the test program.
The SVE extraction tests are Intended to provide adequate data for the evaluation of the
pore volume flushmg and pressure field developed by a single fully screened well and
by multiple partially screened wells In addition, the extraction testing will provide for
an assessment of the quani tty and concentration of extracted VOCs for use in esumating
the time necessary to flush an adequate number of pore volumes for a SUETS to meet a
remediation goal. To assist m interpreting low pressure responses at the most distant
monitoring points, a barometric pressure transducer will be programmed to record
climatLeally induced variations in atmospheric pressure just before and during both the
baseline and the extractton tests.
4.2 Phase 11 Tests
Upon completion of the Phase I pilot study investigation tests (estirr ated to take less
than one week in the field), the data will be analyzed for purposes of smng blowers for
the longer durauon Please II SVE test, and for the sizing of treatment systems (carbon)
for the vapor emissions Phase II testing will then be initiated The Phase H program
will comst of a longer duration vapor extraction pilot test for the purpose of
quantifying the effectiveness of SVE m reducing soil vapor and groundwater
concentrations.
WPZVEGSdaa1--FM4 eia3 as ffr rage 9
ev/01 a 92T017917G0?T 01 90617 eS9 OTS 3AD I NJ 3N I03-1 83I N=i L2:91 F0, 60 -Int
