LFR Levine-Fricke Revrsed
After sample collection using either rnethod, the vials will then be capped with no head
space, labeled, and placed in an ice-chilled cooler, for transport to a CDHS-certtfied
laboratory for analysis under standard chain-of-custody protocol Sample equipment
will be washed with AIconox detergent solution and raised with distilled water between
sampling locations to mmirLP cross contamination
Soils cuttings (if any), decontamination fluids, and purged groundwater will be placed
in California Department of Transportation-approved 55-gallon drums or large
?_[I-cubic-yard soil bins for temporary storage pending disposal (see Appendix C of the
Draft RDFS Work Plan)
9.2.6 Vapor Sampling
Vapor samples will be collected from soil vapor extraction or monitoring wells. VOC
concentrations will be measured either in the field (with a PID) or in the laboratory, as
discussed in Section 5 and Tables 1 and 2 of this Work Plan.
9.2.6.Y Vapor Field Screening
Field screening samples will be collected from vapor monitoring wells and SVE wells
during the pilot tests Samples will be collected in 1 later Tedlar bags for screenuig of
total VOCs, percent oxygen, and percent carbon dioxide Samples will be collected
using a vacuum pump connected to a vacuum chamber housing the Tedlar bag fhe
Tedlar bag will be connected to the SVE well sampling port using inert Teflon tubing
that passes through the wall of the vacuum chamber. To retrieve a vapor sample under
vacuum, and to overcome the vacuum in the extraction or monitoring well, a small
vacuum pump will be connected to the chamber and a vacuum will be applied When
the vacuum in the chamber snatches or slightly exceeds the vacuum in the well, soil
vapor will flow from the well into the Tedlar bag contained in the chamber Once
filled, the Tedlar bag will be connected to the field instrument for measurement of the
specific gas VOC monitoring will be performed with a field PID equipped with an
11.4 eV lamp Oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations will be treasured using a
Gaster oxygen and carbon dioxide meter.
9.2.6.2 Laboratory Sample Collection
So$-vapor samples will be collected from the SVE wells using 1-liter Tedlar bags for
subsequent TO-14 laboratory analysis, as required by this Work Plan. The frequency of
sample collection usmg Tedlar bags will be conducted in accordance with Tables 1 and
2 of this Work Plan
The sampling will be performed using the protocol identified in Section S 2 6 1 The
Tedlar bags will be shipped to the laboratory under standard chain-of-custody
procedures Samples will be analyzed for VOCs using EPA Method TO-14 by Air
Toxics Laboratory, a California state-certified analytical laboratory (as described in
age 32
+npSYEC6-Lodrrex-08123 doe[fr
02'120 d 8€T0t79t760ZT 01 9060 2S9 01S ANDD J 3NIA31 837 dd Lb 9T 20, 60 -inf
