LFR Levine-Fricke Revised
• The SVE/GAS pilot test will be conducted over a tunenod adequate ccluate to reduce PCE
concentrations in groundwater to approximately 1,0001tg/1 so that the Phase IV ozone
sparging pilot test can be performed
GAS Pilot Test: Compressed air will be sparged through the two sparge wells, FSEW-3
and PSEW-5, into the shallow-zone groundwater On/off sequencwg tunes and
compressed air pressures and airflow rates will be varied during the pilot test Pressure
and geochetnical indicator responses such as DO and ORP in existing adjacent
groundwater monitoring wells G-06 and MW-09 and m proposed wells FSEW-2 and 3,
PSEW-4, PSEW-6 and PSEW-9 will be monitored
SVE Pilot Test: Soil vapor will be extracted from any given configuration of the nine
soil-vapor extraction wells, IFSEW-1, 2, and 3. PSEW-4, 5, and 6, and PSEW-7, 8,
and 9
7.4.7 Groundwater Monitoring
7.4,1.1 Baseline Monitoring
One round of baseline groundwater monitoring will be performed before initiation of
the Phase 1I SVE and Phase III SVE/GAS pilot tests. Groundwater levels and
groundwater samples will be collected from the sparge wells l~SEW-3 and PSEW-5 and
the existing groundwater monitoring wells MW-09 and G-06 and monitoring wells
1HSEW-1 and 2. PSEW-4 and 6, and PSEW-9 These samples will be used to define the
groundwater "baseline" prior to the irutiation of the SVE test and between the SVE and
SVE/GAS tests. Groundwater samples will be analyzed for VOCs by EPA method
5260. Geochen ical indicators such as DO, ORp, and pH will also be measured in the
collected groundwater samples in the field to establish baseline conditions
7.4 1.2 Groundwater Monitoring During Sparging
A monitoring schedule to track the progress of the GAS pilot test is depicted in Table
3 Based on an evaluation of the data gathered during the pilot test, the effective radius
of influence (ROI) of a sparge well will be estimated The estimate will be based on
various parameter trends monitored during the pilot test such as increase in DO, ORP,
pressure head, and VOC concentration reductions in a radial direction relative to the
sparge well.
After completion of the Phase III SVE/GAS test, a Phase IV SVE/GOS test will be
conducted at the Site At that tune, the ozone generator inside the sparge system will be
put into operation to allow for ozone sparging within the shallow-zone groundwater A
brief description of the proposed Phase IV SVE/GOS test is presented in Section 8
--ge 24
W"vi:cs•i.oal-rav-os113 dog Ire
02190 a 8CT009060ZT 01 906b 2S9 01S 3ADI83 3NIATI 837 83 6b 9T 20, 60 Inr
