PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
opq_y lN' .0
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
JOGI KHANNA M.D.,M.P.H. "
Health Officer
P.O. Box 2009 . (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) . Stockton,California 95201 c"ciFo a''vP
(209) 468-3400
C(n--py
January 30, 1990
T0: San Joaquin County Planning Division
FROM : San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
RE: The Cheese Factory, 14253 S. Airport Way, Manteca
In November 1989 , the dairy that was operating at the above site
was closed and the cows removed from the premise . Since that
time there appears to be work going on to remodel the former
milking barn into art expansion of the existing adjoining cheese
factory. We understand that the California State Department of
Agriculture has received and is reviewing building plans for this
expansion.
Our concern is that any further expansion of the cheese plant
will exaggerate odor and drainage problems associated with the
operation of this plant . Will an expansion of this plant require
a land use application?
Enclosed is a copy of a letter we sent to the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board on January 17 , 1990
regarding this matter.
encl .
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
