0
HAZARDOUS WASTE INSPECTION REPORT
RESPONSE TO NOTICE TO COMPLY
#12 Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste.
The small waste liquid spill from the Doringer cutting saw was cleaned up
with absorbent. Absorbent booms have been placed around the saw to
contain any spills. Any future spills will be contained within the boom and
will be cleaned up immediately.
#15 Spill control equipment, and/or decontamination equipment not provided.
AASC is questioning the need for an eyewash station because the area is used
only for the storage of solid hazardous waste, such as rinse tank filters, film
adhesive, graphite pre-preg, filter press "cake", and carbon. If SJCEHD
determines that an eyewash station is necessary, AASC would like additional
time to install the eyewash station. In lieu of installing a telephone in the
area, those entering the small hazardous waste storage area will have a cell
phone.
#16 Failed to maintain all communication or alarm systems, spill control, or
decontamination equipment.
The Apollo valve handle was removed so that the eyewash/shower unit in the
large alodine area remains open at all times. The handle will be replaced and
a lockout device will be placed on the valve to keep it open as soon as it is
purchased and received. Maintenance is waiting for parts to repair the
eyewash station in the White Room.
#19 Stored hazardous waste on site longer than 90 days without a permit or
authorization.
Hazardous waste was shipped offsite. A copy of the manifest is attached.
(a) Waste oil, Page 3, 28f
(b) Waste MEKISBA, Page 4,28f
(c) Waste MEK/resin, Page 1, llc
(d) Waste titration solution, 2 drums, Page 4, 28b
(e) Waste hydrofluoric/nitric solution (1 of 2), Page 2, 28c
(f) Waste Turco solution, Page 2, 28d
Waste Citra Safe/oil, Page 3, 28e
Waste Chromic acid solution, Page 4, 28d
Waste hydrofluoric/nitric solution (2 of 2), Page 2, 28c
(g) Waste amastrip solution, (Poly drum) Page 2, 28a
Waste passivation solution (Poly drum, 1 of 2), Page 2, 28b
Waste parts coolant (2 steel drums), Page 3, 28d
(h) Waste PPE contaminated with MEK (1 of 2), Page 2, 28h
