APPLIED
AEROSPACE
STRUCTURES
L19AAS CORP.
Ms. Kasey Foley
July 21, 2005
Class 11 Violations
Page 2
#19 Stored hazardous waste on site longer than 90 days without a permit or
authorization.
The drum in question actually did not contain paint. It contained a mixture
of Isopropyl Alcohol, Methyl Ethyl Ketone/sec-Butyl Alcohol (Paint related
material). This was being accumulated in the storage area because the
solvent is generated from the residue left in "empty" solvent drums. To
prevent this from becoming an issue, any residual will be placed in one of the
paint waste drums so that an accumulation drum is not necessary. The
waste was hauled offsite on Manifest No. 24415035, 11 d. A copy of the
manifest is attached.
#21 Failed to keep containers of HW closed except when adding/removing HW
The funnel on the waste oil drum in the machine shop storage cabinet was
removed and the bungs replaced. Employees were trained to remove the
funnel following the addition of oil to the drum, and then replacing the
bungs. Attached is a copy of the training sheet. The machine shop
supervisor will investigate the purchase of a funnel with a lid, and if feasible,
will purchase it.
If you have any questions, or need additional information, please call me at 983-3339.
Sincerely,
:
CL"on K, Kit a
Environmental Coordinator
