12 February 2018 AdvantedGeo
AGE Project No. 11-1934 Environmental
4.0. HYDROSTATIC TEST
The hydrostatic test [22CCR§66265.192(k)(10)] is conducted to verify the AST primary
and secondary shell will not leak. The test was conducted by representatives of AGE on
09 January 2018. Test results are provided in Table 4.
4.1. HYDROSTATIC TEST PROCEDURE
The six AST primary and secondary compartment ports are temporarily sealed to
maintain an inner constant pressure. A regulator with pressure valve was attached to one
opening of the primary and secondary AST compartment. Air pressure was applied with
a compressor ranging between approximately 2.5 pounds per square inch (psi) and 3 psi;
first to the primary and then to the secondary. The approximate AST ports and respective
locations are shown on Figure 3.
4.2. HYDROSTATIC TEST RESULTS
The hydrostatic test results indicated both the primary and secondary AST shells did not
leak at the time of the test. Pressure readings were collected every fifteen minutes for
one hour from the primary. Testing of the secondary followed successful results from the
primary tank test. No fluctuation in pressure was recorded during the test. Test results
are provided in Table 4.
5.0. SEISMIC ANALYSIS
A seismic analysis is provided to verify the AST will not tip or turn over during a seismic
event. Seismic data used in the calculation is included as Appendix A. The calculations
are included as Appendix A.
5.1. SEISMIC CALCULATION
The seismic analysis is calculated by using AST specifications and finding the horizontal
shear, the overturn moment and the safety factor the AST will withstand during a seismic
event. Seismic data used in the calculation is included as Appendix A. The calculations
are included as Appendix A.
5.1.1. AST Specifications
The 480-gallon AST primary and secondary compartment materials of manufacture are
discussed in Sections 2.1.3 and 3.1. The AST weighs of 1,001 pounds (Ibs) when empty
is calculated, by extrapolation, using a similar use AST. Waste oil is temporarily stored
