12 February 2018 AdvaneedGeo
AGE Project No. 11-1934 Fnvironmental
Page 5 of 5 n.
within the tank. 480-gallons of waste oil weighs approximately 3,600 lbs. The total seismic
load of the tank is calculated to be 1,001 Ib force (Ibf) when empty and 4,601 Ibf when
full.
5.1.2. Seismic Calculation Results
The pounds of horizontal shear are calculated at approximately 252 Ibf. The tank overturn
moment is calculated at approximately -970 Ibf foot (ft). The safety factor was calculated
at approximately 3.7. The tank, without additional components, is of sufficient weight to
not spill during a potential seismic event for this area. Figure 3 shows the AST top and
northeast sides with dimensions. The seismic calculations are included as Appendix A.
5.2. SEISMIC ANCHORING
AST seismic anchoring is not required based on seismic shear moment and over turn
calculations, discussed in section 5.1.
5.3. INTEGRITY TEST FINDINGS
Based on the calculations discussed in Section 5.1., the AST has sufficient integrity for
its intended use. The total seismic load of the tank is calculated at 1,001 Ibf when empty
and 4,601 Ibf when full.
6.0. DISCREPANCIES AND NON-COMPLIANT ISSUES
No initial discrepancies or fixes were found during the inspection and AST assessment
conducted by AGE representatives on 09 January 2018.
7.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily
exercised by environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings
were based upon results provided by an independent subcontractor. Evaluation of the
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation was made from a limited number
of available data points (field measurements) and conditions may vary away from these
data points. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
interpretations, opinions and recommendations contained in this report
