Oily waste gloves are generated from technicians wearing PPE during an oil change are being thrown <br /> into the garbage can without first determining the hazardous properties. Oily mop water are being <br /> generated from cleaning floors with a mop or floor scrubber and being disposed into the sump in the <br /> Detail department leading to an oil water separator. It is unclear when the last time the sump was <br /> pumped out of its sludges. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a <br /> hazardous waste. Immediately make a hazardous waste determination for the oily gloves, and manage <br /> it according the Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting <br /> documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br /> 20. Failed to completely label containers of hazardous waste. One 55 gallon metal drum half full of <br /> waste oily absorbent stored in the Smog department is missing the information on the generator name & <br /> address, the physical state and hazardous property and the type of contents. . All hazardous waste <br /> containers shall be marked with the following information: <br /> 1. the words "Hazardous Waste", 2. name and address of generator, 3. hazardous properties <br /> 4. physical state, 5. composition (contents), 6. accumulation start date <br /> Immediately label these containers and ensure that all hazardous waste containers are marked with all <br /> the required information. <br /> - Corrected on-site. Missing information marked by service manager. <br /> 32. A hazardous waste tank assessment was not available on site for the used oil tanks. Advance <br /> Geotechnical Staff Engineer A. Luis Gardea is finalizing the used oil tank assessment. The waste <br /> antifreeze tank has been removed from service and emptied. A 55 gallon drum is currently being used <br /> for the waste antifreeze. A hazardous waste generator shall obtain and keep on site a written <br /> assessment for each hazardous waste tank at the facility. This assessment shall be reviewed and <br /> certified by an independent, qualified, professional engineer, registered in California, and shall attest to <br /> the tank system's integrity. The assessment shall determine that the tank system is adequately <br /> designed and has sufficient structural strength and compatibility with the waste stored, and shall be <br /> written in accordance with Title 22 regulations. Immediately obtain written tank assessments for the <br /> used oil tanks at this facility in accordance with Title 22 regulations, maintain a copy on site at the <br /> facility.
