DRAFT 1219 . 4203
as farmland and as an alfalfa processing plant. It was
further developed and operated by Anderson Tire Recapping
Company in 1945. The latter had been shut down for several
years prior to acquisition by All Pure Chemical in 1975.
The relatively level 15-acre site is bounded on the north by
farmland and a farm equipment maintenance shop, Banta Road
and an orchard area with residences on the west, farmland on
the south, and the Southern Pacific Railroad and the
Carabana Irrigation Canal on the east (Attachment 1, Area
Map) . S
G
The facility includes a tank farm and outside repackaging
area, a truck storage area, and a 14 , 400-square foot metal
building used as an office and for storage, blending, and
repackaging of industrial and household chemicals.
The regional area, at an elevation of 30 to 40 feet, is arid
with annual precipitation of approximately 10 inches. Soils
of the area are typical of San Joaquin alluvium which
consists of clay-loam type materials. They have a low
permeability and are used primarily for irrigated row crops
and orchards. An aquifer provides potable and industrial
water from depths of approximately 120 to 200 feet. There
are two water supply wells located onsite to provide
drinking and industrial water for the facility. Surface
-3-
