J DRAFT 1219 . 4203
truck maintenance activities and classed as a hazardous
waste, is reclaimed by Safety Kleen Corporation, Salida,
California, which serves as both generator and transporter
of the spent solvent as well as supplier of fresh solvent.
Copies of waste manifests and records of shipments of waste
oil and spent solvent are maintained in files. The use of
cleaning solvent and the collection of spent solvent and
waste oil occurs on a concrete floor within the truck
garage, with little chance for escape of any significant
amount of the waste material to soil or groundwater.
WATER MANAGEMENT
Water continues to be pumped from an onsite well through a
sand filter and cold zeolite softener, at an approximate
rate of 20, 000 gallons per day. A second well is used as a
firewater source. The wells take water from formations 120
to 200 feet deep. Water is used for domestic purposes,
washdown, container washing, and make-up for the bleach
blending process.
Wastewater develops from product container washing, drains
from blending and packaging operations, tank farm
stormwater, sand filter blowdown, zeolite filter
regeneration, and chlorine tank cleaning and testing.
-6-
